Germany's Opportunity Card
Germany’s Opportunity Card, also known as the Chancenkarte, is a new initiative designed to help non-EU citizens look for work in Germany without the need for a permanent job offer or family sponsorship. Launched on June 1, 2024, this card will replace the Jobseeker Visa.
Basic Requirements for the Opportunity Card
Applicants must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to cover living expenses during their stay in Germany.
Requires a university degree or vocational qualification obtained or recognised in Germany.
- Completion of a degree or at least two years of vocational training recognised by the state where it was obtained.
- Language proficiency: German language skills at level A1 or English language skills at level B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR).
Key Features of the Opportunity Card
The card allows for a two-week trial job or part-time employment (up to 20 hours per week).
Initially valid for one year, with the possibility of extending up to an additional two years.
